(PPCDL) Powered Pleasure Craft Driving License

You need a valid Powered Pleasure Craft Driving Licence (PPCDL) to drive engine-powered / jet-propelled boats of less than 24 metres within the Singapore port limits.

Once you have a valid PPCDL, you are allowed to drive an MPA pleasure craft registered with the following prefix:

  • SZ – in the case of a pleasure craft for private use; and
  • SZH – in the case of a pleasure craft for commercial use.

Requirements for PPCDL

  1. Be at least 16 years of age.
  2. Have successfully completed an approved PPCDL course at any of the PPCDL Centres approved by MPA.
  3. Produce a valid certificate by a medical practitioner certifying that you have passed an eyesight test and are not physically handicapped.
  4. Successfully passed the PPCDL Examinations conducted by the Singapore Maritime Academy, Singapore Polytechnic.

This guided PPCDL orientation programme is specially designed for the new PPCDL holders who have just passed the test. This session helps new PPCDL holders build up their confidence and put all their knowledge acquired during the PPCDL course into a real experience.
